The C1000 supermarket chain uses data from the Locatus Retail Outlet Explorer. “This enables us to analyse the supply side of the market,” says Location Research Manager Almar de Vries.

C1000 has 375 stores throughout the Netherlands and uses data from the Locatus Retail Outlet Explorerto conduct its location research. “We purchase the set of supermarket data, so we can see exactly where all of the supermarkets are situated, which chain they belong to, and the size of the surface area of each store. This surface area information is especially useful for us."

“We use the data to conduct our location research. Among other things we are currently conducting location research for one of our stores. We are thinking of increasing the size of the existing store and are using the Locatus data to help us determine whether this is a good idea. On the basis of the store surface area we can estimate the volume of sales. And we find that we are also increasingly using the data to analyse the competition."

“A long time ago, before the arrival of the internet and before we started working with the Locatus data, location research required far more time and effort. We had to obtain telephone books and go and visit the actual stores to see the location and the size of the store.

“There are many parties out there providing retail information, but, as far as we are concerned, Locatus is the most reliable. It is also extremely helpful to be able to access the data online. It means that we can refer to it anywhere and that we always have access to the latest information.
