Corio

Property company Corio Nederland has been using Locatus’ data for years. “We use the data from the Retail Outlet Explorer and sometimes also footfall counts in the selection, development, redevelopment and management of shopping centres,” explains Jan-Willem Speetjens, head of market analysis and strategy.

“Corio focuses primarily on retail. We develop, let and manage shopping centres and we use the Locatus retail database for all these aspects.

We often refer to data from the Retail Outlet Explorer when we are letting properties. We look to see where a retailer already has stores and where they don’t yet have stores. The empty spaces maps help us identify where there are still opportunities.”

The objective

“We also often compare towns where we are developing new projects. For example, there is a planned new-build project in the south of the Netherlands for which we are using data from the Retail Outlet Explorer. We are comparing this towncentre with other towns with around 100,000 inhabitants. We are looking what to see what kinds of shops are to be found in such towns, and which of these are still missing in our town. We also use the data when making acquisitions, because we can see what competition a retailer has on the street. We can also produce nice graphics with the Retail Outlet Explorer that provide a clear overview.”

Why Locatus?

“For al long time we were able to cope without the Locatus data, but now we have it, we are finding that we can do an awful lot with it. It can also be used by all of the different departments within our organisation.”
