"We really wanted to get a footfall count done by professionals"
Terre Bleue
Dirk Perquy is the third generation to run the family firm
of Duror-Two Faces, which now has fourteen Terre Bleue fashion stores in Belgium.
“The footfall count by Locatus was one of the factors in our decision to move our shop
in Gent to the other side of the street,” says managing director Dirk
Perquy.
Duror-Two-Faces was founded in 1938 and evolved from a textile wholesaler into a fashion wholesaler. Initially it sold women’s and children’s clothing under two different brand names. In 2002 the company launched a new women’s collection under the name Terre Bleue. Two years later they decided to set up their own shops. Fourteen Terre Bleue shops opened over a period of eight years. Some of these shops sell children’s and men’s clothing as well as womenswear.
The objective
“Our first shop in Gent covered am area of fifty square metres and was literally bursting at the seams. But because this shop had the highest sales per square metre, we were reluctant to relocate,” explains Perquy. “When a property with 220 square metres became available across the road, it seemed the perfect opportunity. But we were concerned that the new outlet would be less profitable.
The first shop was on the sunny side of the street, but the new shop would be in the shade. In view of the size of the investment, we wanted to be certain that the new location was also a good one.”
Why Locatus?
“To start with I got my son do a count as a holiday job, but we really wanted to get it done by professionals. So we asked Locatus to conduct a footfall count on both sides of Brabantdam. The figures vindicated our decision to relocate.”
